Even before the second film hits theaters, conversations about the future of The Devil Wears Prada 3 have already begun. Cast members are openly sharing ideas about a possible third installment, touching on when it could arrive and how the story might evolve if the series continues.

The Devil Wears Prada 3 ideas get debated by Part 2 stars

While promoting The Devil Wears Prada 2, actors Simone Ashley, Caleb Hearon, and Helen J. Shen shared their thoughts on a potential third movie. The trio, who play Amari, Charlie, and Jin Chao, spoke about continuing their characters’ journeys.

Hearon joked to ScreenRant that fans may have to wait until “2046,” referencing the 20-year gap between the first film and its sequel. Ashley quickly pushed back, saying, “It’s not going to take 20 years! It’s not.”

Story ideas also came up during the discussion. Hearon said he would like to see the trio reunite on screen, possibly running Runway together. “I hope we run Runway or something together. It’d be fun,” he said. Shen supported the idea of Ashley’s character stepping into a leadership role, while Ashley herself called that direction “inevitable,” hinting that Amari could eventually take charge.

Shen added that beyond plot details, her biggest wish is simply to return to the set with her co-stars. She said she has had “such a great time” working with them and would happily come back no matter where the story goes. That sense of chemistry among the newer cast could play a role in shaping future plans if the sequel performs well.

The franchise itself has a strong legacy. The Devil Wears Prada, based on Lauren Weisberger’s novel, earned about $326 million worldwide against a $35 million budget and holds a 75% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

The sequel reunites Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci, bringing the story into a modern media landscape where Runway faces new challenges. A strong box office run for the second film could make a third chapter more likely.
