Tim Robbins will return to movies after seven years with his next project alongside Emma Stone and Chris Pine. The upcoming project is being developed by Universal Pictures.
What movie has Tim Robbins been cast in?
Tim Robbins has joined the cast of The Catch, a romantic comedy film to be helmed by Dave McCary, reports The Hollywood Reporter. Known for his acclaimed roles in films such as The Shawshank Redemption, Jacob’s Ladder, and Mystic River, Robbins’ last movie was 2019’s conspiracy thriller Dark Waters. The highly admired film also featured Mark Ruffalo and Anne Hathaway.
Although he did not appear in any films for seven years, Robbins did make an appearance on Apple TV+ hit sci-fi dystopian TV show Silo, featuring Rebecca Ferguson. The series premiered in 2023 and returns for Season 3 next month.

Speaking more of The Catch, the production will begin in New York next month. The main plot details are still under wraps, but the film has reportedly been described as Bull Durham meets Notting Hill.
Emma Stone is reportedly set to play the most hated woman in baseball. Chris Pine is expected to play a baseball player. Robbins is expected to portray Stone’s father.
Sissy Spacek has also joined the cast, and she is expected to play Pine’s aunt. The veteran actress was most recently seen alongside Jennifer Lawrence in 2025’s horror drama Die My Love.
As for Stone, she was most recently seen in the acclaimed sci-fi comedy film Bugonia. For her stellar performance, she even received a nomination for Best Actress at the 2026 Oscars.
Earlier this year, Pine appeared in the comedy-drama Carousel, alongside Jenny Slate and Sam Waterston, among others. He will next be seen in an upcoming action thriller, titled Run the Night, on which he is serving as a producer as well.
Universal’s romantic comedy The Catch is set to hit theaters on May 21, 2027.
