What do we see in the images for Kristen Stewart’s new stoner comedy movie?
The upcoming NEON movie The Wrong Girls has officially received its first-look images. It follows the story of two stoner best friends, Frankie (Stewart) and Molly (Shawkat), on a psychedelic trip in a series of mixed-up events that lead to chaos.
The images reveal the stoner duo overlooking the “briefcase full of glowing vials” that pans out the story alongside a look at Stanfield’s and McKinnon’s characters.
The movie is directed by Dylan Meyer. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, she provided more details about her directorial debut film, “Frankie and Molly are codependent boneheads who have spent the last 10 years blissfully in a fog of weed smoke, co-signing each other’s bad choices and screening adulthood’s increasingly insistent calls. Just as Molly’s boyfriend asks her to move in with him, Frankie is mistakenly given a briefcase full of glowing vials of an experimental psychedelic.”
Other cast members also include Zack Fox, Tony Hale, Geena Davis, and the voices of Seth Rogen and Kumail Nanjiani. The producers of the film include Allison Rose Carter, Evan Goldberg, Alex McAtee, Maggie McLean, Jon Read, Seth Rogen, John Weaver, and Kristen Stewart.

The movie was inspired by Meyer’s own experience with her best friend and producing partner, Maggie McLean, calling her “the babe” she couldn’t do anything without.
She says, “It’s a love letter to wayward chaotic women and the essential platonic partnerships that prop them up. The Wrong Girls may feature giant squids, Danish hitmen, talking cats, and supernatural abilities, but the emotional story and stakes are pure memoir.”
The Wrong Girls will release in theaters on August 14, 2026.
