Jonah Hill‘s next star-studded directorial feature, titled Cut Off, might never be released after it was officially removed from Warner Bros. Pictures‘ 2026 release schedule. Before this, the comedy movie was initially slated for a summer debut this year.
What is the update on Jonah Hill’s Warner Bros. movie?
According to Puck’s Matt Belloni, the reason why Hill’s Cut Off movie lost its previously scheduled July 17 release date this year was that the studio deemed it to be “unreleasable.” If this is true, there’s a possibility that the film may never come off the shelf. This revelation comes after Hill’s recent Apple TV movie Outcome with Keanu Reeves received negative reviews from critics.
Cut Off is directed and produced by Hill, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Ezra Woods. The Academy Award nominee is also starring in the film alongside Kristen Wiig, Bette Midler, Nathan Lane, Camila Cabello, Chelsea Peretti, and Adriana Barraza. The film follows two siblings who must now fend for themselves after their rich parents cut them off. In a previous interview, Hill compared the film to classic comedies like Step Brothers, Clueless, and Trading Places. It is executive-produced by Jesse Ehrman, Zach Hamby, and Alex G. Scott, with Alison Goodwin and Matt Dines producing.
At the moment, Hill is in talks to reprise his iconic role in the highly anticipated 24 Jump Street movie. Besides him, Channing Tatum and Ice Cube are also in negotiations with Sony Pictures to star in the sequel. 22 Jump Street co-writer Rodney Rothman is attached to direct and co-wrote the screenplay.
