The latest update on The Penguin Season 2 is terrible news for DC and Batman fans. After months and months of speculating whether a second season will ever arrive, an answer seems to have finally been revealed.
Created by Lauren LeFranc, The Penguin is a DC show that premiered on HBO in 2024. A spin-off of 2022’s The Batman that is part of Matt Reeves‘ The Batman Epic Crime Saga shared universe, the show sees Colin Farrell reprise his role as Oswald “Oz” Cobb/Penguin. The cast also includes Cristin Milioti as Sofia Gigante, Rhenzy Feliz as Victor “Vic” Aguilar, and more.
What is The Penguin Season 2 update?
Since the conclusion of The Penguin, many fans have wondered if a second season is being made. The show was developed as a limited series; however, given how well received the first season was, many of the creatives involved with making the show have said they’d be open to doing more, though no official announcement was ever made.
Now, Jeff Sneider of The InSneider is reporting that there will be no The Penguin Season 2. Sneider said in a tweet, “I’m told that DC/HBO will not move forward with a second season of THE PENGUIN, which will remain a limited series.”
Neither DC nor HBO has commented on the matter yet; however, neither company may comment on this topic unless it is to say that The Penguin Season 2 is happening. That means, at this time, DC fans shouldn’t be expecting the show to continue.
The good news is that Farrell’s Penguin will have a role in The Batman 2, also known as The Batman: Part II, which is set to be released in United States theaters on October 1, 2027. Once again being directed by Reeves, that movie will see Robert Pattinson reprise his Bruce Wayne/Batman role, while Sebastian Stan, Charles Dance, and Scarlett Johansson also star.
The Penguin, meanwhile, is available to stream on HBO Max.
