The Voice contestant Dylan Carter dies at 24
Dylan Carter, who nearly brought the four judges of The Voice to tears with his performance during his audition, has died at the age of 24 in a car crash. A brilliant talent, Carter earned a four-chair turn with his rendition of Whitney Houston’s “I Look to You” during his audition.
The South Carolina-based singer was reportedly involved in a single-vehicle crash on the night of April 25, 2026, while on a rural Colleton County road (via News 2).
Thomas Hamilton Jr., the mayor of his South Carolina town, Moncks Corner, also confirmed the death by sharing a statement on Facebook. “Our family is heartbroken to hear about the passing of Dylan Carter in a car accident,” Hamilton wrote on the post.
He continued, “As a gifted singer, he frequently entertained our community with his performances at Town events. His kindness and charm earned him immense respect, and his absence will be deeply felt,” and added, “To the loved ones and acquaintances of Dylan, we offer our sincerest condolences during this difficult period. The Town of Moncks Corner, its Council, and entire staff extend their deepest sympathies. He was much more to our family than an entertainer he was our friend and we are deeply saddened.”
Reba McIntyre, who featured as a coach on four seasons of The Voice, also paid tribute to Carter on Facebook. “We will miss Dylan so much. He was a brilliant, kind and talented young man who brought a huge ray of sunshine to The Voice. Rest in peace, my dear friend,” the legendary singer wrote.
Carter was 20 when he appeared on The Voice Season 24. He ended his run on the competition in the Battle Rounds.
