Just months ahead of the series’ expected debut, the official trailer for Lanterns has been removed from platforms run by DC Studios and HBO Max. The sudden disappearance has sparked questions about the reason behind the move. Meanwhile, no changes have been announced regarding the series’ release timeline.

DC and HBO Max channels have deleted Lanterns trailer

The official trailer for Lanterns has been quietly removed from the primary digital platforms of DC Studios and HBO Max. The preview, which had been released as an early look at the series, is no longer available in its original format across either company’s YouTube and social media channels. Notably, no formal explanation has been issued regarding the decision.

The sudden disappearance has led to a range of interpretations. Some viewers have connected the move to the mixed reception the trailer received when it first debuted, particularly criticism related to its tone and visual presentation. Meanwhile, according to Comic Book Movie, the use of a remixed version of “State Trooper” by Bruce Springsteen may have been subject to limited licensing terms. If the usage rights for the song were granted only for a limited duration, it may have resulted in the trailer being taken down from official platforms.

At the same time, the trailer has not been entirely erased from circulation. It remains accessible on HBO Max Asia and continues to appear on unofficial online channels. The series centers around John Stewart and Hal Jordan, two intergalactic officers investigating a murder case on Earth. The series’ cast is led by Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre.
