Big Mouth Productions just released the trailer for its Nashville drama movie The Easy Kind. It features a fictionalized version of a real-life country music star, known for her dazzling outfits, clever tunes, and a persona that challenges the music industry’s rules.
The official synopsis reads, “When Elizabeth Cook first emerged on the country scene, she was plucked up by the Nashville establishment, briefly paraded around as the latest sweet young thing, and quickly cast aside when she refused to fit neatly into a marketable box.”

What do we see in The Easy Kind trailer?
The Easy Kind trailer shows country artist Elizabeth Cook playing her fictionalized self. The film follows her as she navigates personal and professional challenges.
In The Easy Kind trailer, Cook is “a renegade singer/songwriter steadfast in her own skin” who is seen “navigating the personal and professional complexities of midlife. She’s breaking new ground musically—even if the powers that be still can’t see how to monetize her magnetic, hard-scrabble talent. As she frees herself from the trappings that have held her back—money troubles, family tragedies, and ex-lovers—she forges a path for herself to be able to make music on her town terms.”

The movie provides “a captivating look at an artist that’s as vulnerable and soulful as she is irrefutably ballsy.” The film is helmed by acclaimed veteran filmmaker Katy Chevigny (E-Team, Deadline, Charm City, Dick Johnson Is Dead).
The supporting cast includes David Letterman, Karen Allen, Catherine Curtin, and Susie Essman. Melissa Jackson, Charles Esten, Zebedee Row, and Mary Bacon also appear in key roles.
The Easy Kind initially premiered at the 2024 Telluride Film Festival. This year, it opens Friday, June 3, 2026, at The IFC Center in New York City. It will also witness a limited national rollout.
