Justin Long fans have another creepy outing to look forward to, with his upcoming horror movie Lice. Following its announcement last year, Magenta Light Studios has acquired North American rights for the film, helmed by Jonathan Bensimon in his directorial debut.
Also featuring Emilie Hirsch and Kevin Connolly, the movie has now received an official update regarding its release window.
What is the release date update for the Justin Long horror movie Lice?
The Justin Long-led horror movie follows him, Hirsch, and Connolly stuck in a deadly parasite outbreak at a Long Island high school in the 1980s. As the campus is placed under military lockdown, students driven mad by an uncontrollable itch begin turning on one another in a desperate fight for survival. As for its release, Lice’s debut is currently slated for the first quarter of 2027, targeting January through March.
As for the main cast, Long will be seen playing Principal Van, a man quickly finding himself out of his depth and soon out of his mind. Hirsch plays Mr. Shanker, a burned-out science teacher trying to find a new purpose while investigating the parasite. Connolly takes on the role of Detective Sikorski, a determined officer who tries to contain the outbreak while racing against time, reports Deadline.
The Justin Long horror movie also features other cast members, including Emilie Bierre, Joelle Farrow, Riley Davis, Tom Keat, Annamarie Kasper, Cooper Levy, Christian Meer, Gage Munroe, Devyn Nekoda, Sabrina Saudin, and Milton Torres Lara.
Director Bensimon said, “We always wanted Lice to feel like a visceral, throwback thrill ride—something pulpy, unsettling, and darkly funny all at once. Collaborating with this cast and creative team allowed us to push that tone in unexpected ways, balancing chaos with character.”
“From the moment we read the script, Lice stood out as a bold, wildly original ride,” revealed Magenta Light Studios’ CEO Bob Yari. “Jonathan Bensimon has crafted a film that’s as smart as it is unsettling, blending dark humor, suspense, and real emotional stakes.”
Kevin Connolly also serves as the producer on Lice alongside Jeremy Alterc, while Bob Yari and David Spiegelman are the executive producers.
