Sydney Sweeney fans are likely disappointed with the latest update on a highly anticipated sequel, which clarifies her involvement in the project. After weeks of speculation fueled by on-set sightings, screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna has now confirmed her status. She brings a clear end to the rumors surrounding the sequel in a new interview.
Sydney Sweeney’s The Devil Wears Prada 2 role gets clarification
Sydney Sweeney will not appear in The Devil Wears Prada 2, with new comments putting an end to speculation that surfaced during filming. The rumors began after images from the New York set circulated online, with some viewers claiming to have spotted the actress among the production crowd.
Screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna addressed the situation directly, explaining how the speculation gained traction. In a Screen Rant interview, she said, “There were a lot of photos from the set of various people. And then there were those memes, where it was like, ‘So-and-so is in the movie. So- and-so is in the movie.’ It became a running joke about who people had seen on set and were in the movie.”
The screenwriter added that the discussion quickly shifted from genuine curiosity to absurdity. She added, “It was one of the first ways actually, that I knew that we were sort of piquing people’s interest because there was constant… It became like, first, people were really speculating, and then people were just being silly.”
When asked directly about Sweeney’s involvement, McKenna gave a clear response. “Well, you saw the movie. She’s not in the movie.” She further confirmed, “Yes,” when asked if the actress was absent from the final cut. With the latest clarification, her involvement in the sequel has now been ruled out.
Sweeney had previously responded to the rumors herself, dismissing claims about her presence on set. She responded, “I don’t know what you’re talking about,” in reference to speculations about her presence on set.
