Normal has already locked in its digital VOD release date, with the neo-Western thriller set to arrive on Amazon Prime Video next month. The early confirmation of its streaming date follows shortly after the film’s theatrical debut, offering audiences a clear timeline for its home viewing. With a strong response, the film has already generated considerable excitement.
Normal gets digital VOD release date for next month
Normal is set to arrive on digital VOD platforms next month, with its release scheduled for May 18, 2026, at 9:00 PM PDT. The film is already available for pre-order in HD at $24.99 on Amazon Prime Video, confirming its availability for home viewing shortly after its theatrical run.
The film, directed by Ben Wheatley and written by Derek Kolstad, was released in the United States on April 17, 2026. The neo-Western thriller follows Ulysses, played by Bob Odenkirk, who takes on a temporary role as sheriff in the small Midwestern town of Normal. Seeking distance from personal difficulties and recent experiences on the job, he arrives expecting a quiet posting.
However, the situation quickly shifts as a failed bank robbery disrupts the town’s routine and brings underlying issues to the surface. As Ulysses begins to look into the incident, he uncovers deeper tensions within the community, revealing that the town is not as calm as it first appears. The assignment gradually draws him into a more complex situation, requiring him to confront his unresolved personal struggles.
The cast also includes Henry Winkler as Mayor Kibner, Lena Headey as Moira, Reena Jolly as Lori, Ryan Allen as Deputy Blaine Anderson, and Billy MacLellan as Deputy Mike Nelson. In terms of reviews, Normal holds a 76 percent critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes, with the audience rating also at 76 percent.
RogerEbert.com reported, “The violence is pretty graphic, and some of it is played for laughs, which would be distasteful if the laughs didn’t actually land. Oh well. Sometimes you enjoy a movie, and you don’t feel good about it in the morning.”
