Henry Cavill‘s future as Sherlock Holmes could extend beyond the Enola Holmes films. One of the franchise’s newest stars, Himesh Patel, has now shared the story he wants to tell next, teasing an exciting direction for the iconic detective.
Himesh Patel wants a classic Sherlock and Watson story with Henry Cavill
Himesh Patel, who plays Dr. John Watson, was asked what he would like to do next in the Netflix franchise opposite Henry Cavill during an interview with Screen Rant for Enola Holmes 3. Patel, who made his debut in a cameo as Dr. Watson in the second installment of the franchise, made it clear that he wanted a classic adventure with Cavill.
“I would just want to spend more time with him. I’d love to do a classic Sherlock-Watson story with him. That’d be a lot of fun,” Patel said. “I think he’s a fantastic actor. He seems like a lovely guy in the time I’ve spent with him. But what he’s done with what you see of Sherlock in this movie is really special, and I really would love to spend more time with Henry and tell a thrilling story.”
Patel’s wish to have a full-fledged outing with Henry Cavill’s Holmes could stem from the fact that the two characters barely share screen time together in the spinoff franchise. Though Dr. Watson has a full-fledged role in Millie Bobby Brown’s Enola Holmes 3, his time with Holmes is rather limited, given that the latter gets kidnapped in the film.
Directed by Philip Barantini, the official synopsis of Enola Holmes 3 reads, “It will take a Holmes to save a Holmes. The critically-acclaimed ‘Enola Holmes’ franchise has returned, taking Enola far from London, where personal and professional dreams collide on a case more tangled and treacherous than any she has faced before.”
All three Enola Holmes films are streaming on Netflix.
