A24‘s movie Moonlight is available to stream on Hulu from today, along with other movies.
The movie tells a timeless story of human connection and self-discovery. It “chronicles the life of a young African-American man from childhood to adulthood as he struggles with his identity and sexuality to find his place in the world while growing up in a rough neighborhood of Miami.”, as the synopsis reads.
According to A24films, it’s a vital portrait of contemporary African-American life and an intensely personal and poetic meditation on identity, family, friendship, and love, which reverberates with deep compassion and universal truths.
It was directed by Barry Jenkins and made its theatrical debut in 2016. He is known for directing Medicines for Melancholy, Chlorophyl, Dear White People, and If Beale Street Could Talk.
However, Moonlight was his most critically acclaimed movie, which earned 237 awards, including three Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor for Mahershala Ali, and Best Adapted Screenplay. It also won a Golden Globe Award for Best Picture (Drama).

It became a massive box office hit after its theatrical run and earned $65.3 million over a $4 million production budget. It sits with a 98% Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Jenkins also adapted the screenplay from the story by Tarell Alvin McCraney. Besides Ali, the cast also includes Naomi Harris, Andre Holland, Janelle Monae, Trevante Rhodes, Ashton Sanders, Jharrel Jerome, Shariff Earp, Duan Sanderson, Alex R. Hibbert, and Jaden Piner.
The movie was produced by Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, and Adele Romanski, with executive producers Sarah Esberg, McCraney, and Brad Pitt. Moonlight can also be streamed on HBO Max, Apple TV, Prime Video, and Fandango at Home.
