The newly released Verity teaser trailer showcases a mysterious and thrilling movie that promises a ton of mystery. This week, Amazon MGM Studios released the first teaser trailer for Verity, the latest movie based on a Colleen Hoover novel.
The star-studded cast and is led by Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson, and Josh Hartnett, and also features Ismael Cruz Córdova, Brady Wagner, Irina Dvorovenko, K.K. Moggie, Michael Abbott Jr., and Alex Cooper.
The movie “follows renowned author Verity Crawford (Anne Hathaway) and Lowen Ashleigh (Dakota Johnson), a struggling writer who relocates to the remote Crawford estate to ghostwrite for Verity. After Lowen uncovers what appears to be Verity’s chilling autobiographical notes, she wrestles with the disturbing and twisted confessions about Verity’s husband Jeremy (Josh Hartnett), and finds it hard to separate fiction from reality, manipulation from attraction, and opportunity from obsession,” reads the film’s official synopsis.
Verity trailer review
The teaser trailer for Verity is the perfect recipe for a thriller like this. The trailer doesn’t really give away too much of the plot, but promises a ton of twists and turns along the way. In the opening scene alone, Dakota Johnson begins kissing Josh Hartnett, only to suddenly be holding onto Anne Hathaway in the next moment. While likely not a real scene in the movie and more so a dream, but that only showcases the weird spiral Johnson’s character goes down in the movie.
Without knowing too much about the source material, Verity’s synopsis also seems ripe for something that will keep you guessing. The movie follows a writer tasked with helping to complete a book from a bestselling author. However, the trailer teases that things aren’t what they seem, and after finding a mysterious manuscript, she begins to wonder just how psychologically well-put the author is. The trailer’s tone suggests that there will be a ton of big twists along the way. What happened during Anne Hathaway’s character’s mysterious accident? How does Josh Hartnett fit into the story? Are we dealing with a potential horror situation?
In the end, Verity’s trailer doesn’t tell us much, but shows a lot. For a movie that’s very dependent on its twists and turns, that’s a good thing. You don’t need a lot to sell the movie already, as it features a star-studded cast and comes from an author who is quickly gaining extreme fame in the world of Hollywood. With the way the movie looks in just a brief snippet, it’ll be a proper mystery thriller we’ll be tuned in for.
