A major Disney+ MCU star has seemingly joined the cast of Avengers: Doomsday after one of their co-stars on a recent project appears to have let it slip.
Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday is currently in post-production. Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, also known as the Russo Brothers, the movie will be released in United States theaters later this year. The sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, then follows in 2027.
So far, Marvel has released four Avengers: Doomsday teaser trailers. The first teaser revealed that Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers is officially returning to the MCU, while the second focused on Chris Hemsworth’s Thor and the third on a handful of X-Men characters. The fourth and final teaser then put the spotlight on Letitia Wright’s Black Panther/Shuri, Ebon Moss-Bachrach’s Ben Grimm/The Thing, and more. There was also an Avengers: Doomsday trailer that was shown at CinemaCon, though this footage has not been shared online.
Who has seemingly joined the Avengers: Doomsday cast?
Per Cinema Hub, Andy Serkis and Iman Vellani were recently doing press for Animal Farm. The new animated movie is directed by Serkis, who also voices a handful of characters in the project, while Vellani voices two piglets named Puff and Tammy.
At one point, Vellani notes that she’s excited to see The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum, which is being directed by Serkis and is currently dated for 2027. In response, Serkis said that he’s excited to see Vellani in Avengers: Doomsday.
“No, you can’t say that,” Vellani said while laughing.
“Oh, I can’t? Well, if there should ever be the chance to see you in a film like Doomsday,” Serkis said in response.
It’s important to note that Marvel has not confirmed that Vellani will be returning as Ms. Marvel/Kamala Khan in Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars. Serkis’ comment sure makes it seem like she will be, however, as there have also been a number of rumors about Kamala and the Young Avengers having a role in both/either of the upcoming Avengers movies. Additionally, it’s also worth noting that Serkis previously starred in an Avengers movie, Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Avengers: Doomsday arrives on December 18, 2026. Avengers: Secret Wars is then dated for December 17, 2027.
