David Robert Mitchell‘s The End of Oak Street has received a shocking MPA rating and runtime. This Anne Hathaway-led dinosaur movie marks a first for the It Follows director, ending his streak of R-rated features.

The new details could reshape expectations for Anne Hathaway’s dinosaur movie

Two new details about the anticipated dinosaur movie, The End of Oak Street, have reshaped audience expectations.

The first detail concerns its MPA rating. The movie is rated PG-13 for strong violent content, bloody images, some strong language, and suggestive material. The second detail is its reported run time of 1 hour and 39 minutes.

The movie marks a major first for Mitchell, as the director has previously held a streak of R-rated films. These include It Follows and Under the Silver Lake. His debut, The Myth of the American Sleepover, was released unrated but is generally considered to contain mature content comparable to an R-rated film.

Earlier reports listed the runtime at 100–105 minutes. The official runtime of 99 minutes suggests the earlier estimate has since been refined. At 99 minutes, the film is shorter than many recent dinosaur blockbusters, potentially shaping audience expectations.

The movie was initially titled Flowervale Street and was scheduled for release in May 2025. However, Warner Bros. delayed the film by more than a year and will now release it under its new title. (via World of Reel)

Mitchell’s film follows a survival story: “After a mysterious cosmic event rips Oak Street from suburbia and transports their neighborhood to someplace unknown, the Platt family soon discovers that their very survival depends on them sticking together as they navigate their now unrecognizable surroundings.”

Apart from directing, he also wrote the movie’s script. The cast includes Hathaway, Ewan McGregor, Maisy Stella, and Christian Convery. Producers include J.J. Abrams, Hannah Minghella, Jon Cohen, David Robert Mitchell, Matt Jackson, and Tommy Harper.
