Constance Wu leads a new sci-fi movie now available on VOD today

Sci-fi movie enthusiasts can now watch Constance Wu’s The Outer Threat on Digital platforms. Marking the directorial debut of Canadian filmmaker and producer William Woods, the film features a strong supporting cast, including Mark O’Brien as Wu’s husband, Daniel, alongside veteran actor William Fichtner.

Reviewers say The Outer Threat is a must-watch for sci-fi fans who prefer psychological thrillers. The film avoids action-packed, large-scale missions. Rather, it pivots on a single family on the run as they hide a dangerous secret. The suspense about the secret creates a sense of paranoia among the viewers as they try to find out whether Constance Wu’s character is hiding a high-stakes government cover-up or if they are extraterrestrials themselves.

The official synopsis for The Outer Threat reads, “Two brilliant astrophysicists make a history-altering discovery: proof of extraterrestrial life. But instead of acclaim, they face imminent danger when the information is leaked. With their power and communications cut and a swarm of drones closing in, they are forced to flee into the countryside with their family. Hunted by a faceless assailant, the line between human paranoia and cosmic reality completely blurs.”

The production team includes Maddy Falle, Albert Shin, and Allison White. The executive producers are Tom Spriggs, Ben Stranahan, Rob McGillivray, John Hansen III, Patrick Vipond, Jared Blaichman, Mark Gingras, and John Laing. Mike McLaughlin served as the cinematographer, Justin Oakey served as editor, and Natasha Uhrig was the production designer. Quiver Releasing distributes this 94-minute movie.
