A 2018 game is getting a surprising update, bringing some fresh new visuals, improved performance, and more.
What Conan the Barbarian video game is getting a major overhaul?
Funcom’s Conan Exiles, the survival video game originally released in 2018, is getting a brand new upgrade on Steam. The new upgrade, titled Conan Exiles Enhanced, comes just a few days before the game’s 8-year anniversary, and Funcom calls the upgrade a “celebratory gift to all past, present, and future players of the game” on PC.
Funcom notes that the free upgrade is available only to Steam owners of the game. Currently, there are “no plans” to bring the upgrade to consoles, the Epic Game Store, or the Windows PC Store, although Funcom said that they are “evaluating releasing on those platforms on the future.”
The new upgrade was built in Unreal Engine 5 and brings eight years of post-launch content into the modern era, with new improved visuals, enhanced performance, and modern rendering technology. The update targets 60+ FPS gameplay across all settings of the game on PC, and also boasts better performance on the Steam Deck. The new upgrade will also feature an entirely new experience in the game.
The new upgrade will allow players to travel freely between the Exiled Lands and the Isle of Siptah without picking any start place. Previously, owners of the Isle of Siptah expansion had to choose a place to load, but now the game supports both maps simultaneously.
