Marvel Studios has yet to officially announce a Midnight Sons movie, but it seems discussions about it have been taking place, according to Oscar Isaac. The actor, who plays Marc Spector, AKA Moon Knight, in the MCU, confirmed this in a recent interview, where he also expressed interest in his character crossing paths with Ghost Rider, potentially played by Ryan Gosling.
Oscar Isaac on Moon Knight return in Midnight Sons
In an appearance on Josh Horowitz’s podcast, the Beef Season 2 star shared that he was drawn to Moon Knight due to its director, Mohamed Diab’s previous work, Cairo 6,7,8.
Oscar Isaac added on Happy, Sad, Confused that finding “a lot of space” or creative freedom and the opportunity to deeply and seriously explore the experiences and challenges posed by DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder), which the titular character suffers from, informed his decision to board the Disney+ series.
Isaac then revealed that there were conversations about him returning as Marc Spector in a potential Midnight Sons project. “I mean, again, it’s a…there’s a very tonally…it’s really important, because we’re playing with real stuff,” he said. “It’s expressing something very real and challenging and difficult.”
The Dune actor then emphasized the importance of taking Midnight Sons seriously, like Moon Knight, even though the comic book was “crazy.”
Notably, Isaac’s comments come a few months after a rumor claiming he would have a “main role” in the Midnight Sons movie surfaced.
Isaac wants Moon Knight and Ghost Rider team up
During the conversation, podcast host Josh Horowitz also told the Golden Globe winner that he had been campaigning for his Drive co-star, Ryan Gosling, to land the part of Ghost Rider for a few years now.
Oscar Isaac supported the fan-cast, saying, “Make it happen, fellas. I mean, it’s a no-brainer.” He also joked that his Moon Knight and Mahershala Ali’s Blade could sit behind Gosling’s Ghost Rider at the back of his bike and “hold him tight.” Furthermore, he called for fans to make a fan poster of the same.
Meanwhile, Ryan Gosling addressed the prospect of him taking up the mantle of the MCU’s Ghost Rider last month. While speaking with Horowitz, the Project Hail Mary star confirmed that discussions took place, but it was “a complicated situation.” However, he was optimistic about getting the role, saying, “We keep hope alive.”
