We have another look at Benjamin Evan Ainsworth’s Link in the upcoming The Legend of Zelda movie, with a new image showing off the actor as the iconic character in his full outfit.
What is shown in the new The Legend of Zelda movie photo?
The new look at Link came just a week after the highly anticipated live-action adaptation of the Nintendo game franchise was announced to have wrapped filming. The new image comes courtesy of director of photography Gyula Pados, who shared a picture of a clapboard on Instagram.
The clapboard, which features the working title of “Umami” for the movie, shows off Link wearing his full tunic, complete with a cape while holding the Master Sword. The Hylian Shield can also be seen on his back, while Link is wearing what looks to be full armor on his hands and waist as well. While the image looks more like concept art than anything, it does seemingly provide a good update on what we can expect Link to look like in the upcoming movie.
Check out the image below:
So far, nothing is known about the upcoming movie. Ainsworth (The Haunting of Bly Manor) will play the role of Link in the movie, with Bo Bragason (Renegade Nell) set to play Zelda. Other than that, no casting or plot details have officially been released as of yet.
The Legend of Zelda movie has been in development since November 2023. The adaptation is being directed by The Maze Runner filmmaker Wes Ball, who’s also producing alongside Joe Hartwick Jr. for Oddball Entertainment. The screenplay was co-written by Derek Connolly and T.S. Nowlin. The project is co-financed by Sony Pictures and Nintendo, with game co-creator Shigeru Miyamoto and Avi Arad also serving as producers.
The original fantasy video game series was co-created by Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka in 1986. The story is centered around the adventures of a young elf named Link and Princess Zelda as they fight together to save the kingdom of Hyrule from the control of the evil warlord Ganon. The game series has expanded to 20 more installments and spin-offs, including the latest 2024 release, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom.
