Kate Hudson‘s hit Netflix comedy returns for its sophomore outing, and critics appear even more impressed this time around. The series’ latest season is earning stronger reviews than its predecessor on Rotten Tomatoes.
What critics are saying about Running Point Season 2 in reviews
Running Point Season 2 premiered on Netflix on April 23, 2026, and critics have shared mixed-to-positive reactions. Richard Roeper of RogerEbert.com praised the show’s future potential. He wrote that the series “seems poised to stay in contention for multiple seasons to come.” Meredith Loftus of Collider gave the season a 6/10 score. Loftus noted that “despite a few shortcomings, Running Point Season 2 continues a successful streak for Netflix thanks to the cast’s chemistry and the sharp writing.”
Cher Thompson of Screen Rant also awarded a 6/10 rating. Thompson stated that “watching Kate Hudson on screen with any scene partner is phenomenal.” Peter Gray of The AU Review gave it 3.5 out of 5 stars. Gray wrote that “season two is about proving staying power.” Sarah Musnicky of But Why Tho? also scored it 6/10. However, M.N. Miller of FandomWire offered the lone negative review with a 5/10. Miller wrote that “Running Point is still going through the motions, playing it far too safe for a comedy.”
Running Point Season 2 gets a strong score on Rotten Tomatoes
The comedy series currently holds an 86% Tomatometer score based on seven critic reviews. Season 1 earned a Certified Fresh 79% Tomatometer score from 53 reviews. Season 1 also received an 81% Popcornmeter audience score from over 500 ratings. Season 2 does not yet have enough audience ratings for a Popcornmeter score.
The Mindy Kaling-created series stars Kate Hudson as Isla Gordon, president of a professional basketball franchise. Brenda Song, Drew Tarver, Scott MacArthur, Max Greenfield, and Chet Hanks also star. Breeze Riley of Multiverse of Color called the show “comedy comfort food.” The series features executive producers David Stassen, Ike Barinholtz, Kate Hudson, and Jeanie Buss.
