One of A24’s newest dark comedy thriller movies has finally been added to HBO Max‘s library, four months after its theatrical release. As of today, 2026’s How to Make a Killing movie starring Glen Powell is officially available to stream on HBO Max.
What do we know about Glen Powell’s How to Make a Killing movie?
How to Make a Killing was written and directed by John Patton Ford. It was inspired by Robert Hamer’s 1949 classic British film Kind Hearts and Coronets. In the 2026 movie, Powell played a man who decides to reclaim his birthright by secretly killing his wealthy relatives one by one until he becomes the only heir to the family’s multi-billion-dollar inheritance. Following its debut last February, it received a divisive reception from critics and moviegoers. It currently holds a 45% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, while its Popcornmeter score is significantly higher at 76%.
“Disowned at birth by his obscenely wealthy family, blue-collar Becket Redfellow will stop at nothing to reclaim his inheritance, no matter how many relatives stand in his way,” reads the official synopsis.
How to Make a Killing also starred Margaret Qualley as Julia, Jessica Henwick as Ruth, Bill Camp as Warren, Zach Woods as Noah, Topher Grace as Pastor Steven, Ed Harris as Whitelaw, and more. The R-rated film was produced by Graham Broadbent, Pete Czernin, Adam Friedlander, and Tebogo Maila. Executive producers were Powell, Ron Halpern, Ben Knight, Anna Marsh, Diarmuid McKeown, and Joe Naftalin. The creative team consisted of composer Emile Mosseri, director of photography Todd Banhazl, editor Harrison Atkins, production designer Christian Huband, and costume designer Jo Katsaras.
