Armie Hammer has addressed not reprising his role as the Winklevoss twins in The Social Reckoning. The actor played dual roles as Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss in the 2010 film.
Armie Hammer reflects on missing out on The Social Reckoning
Speaking with ComingSoon about his career trajectory post the sexual assault scandal, Hammer touched on the topic of The Social Network companion piece. The actor’s comments suggest he has accepted that he would not reprise the role, as the film’s story doesn’t deal with the Winklevoss twins.
“I’m still in communication with some of the people who were involved in the original film, and I knew early on that there was no space for the Winklevoss twins in this movie, which is totally fine,” Hammer said. “I feel like what we made was a really special thing. It really touched on a zeitgeisty thing in a way that is hard to do for films because from the moment an idea comes up for a film until the moment it comes out, it takes a lot of time. But I think both Sorkin and Fincher nailed it, and I’m really proud of that movie.”

Hammer expressed his excitement for The Social Reckoning, hoping that new audiences find the original David Fincher film through it. The actor also praised Aaron Sorkin’s writing, who is also directing the 2026 film.
“Maybe more people will watch The Social Network again. If they do, great. If they don’t, great. I’m sure The Social Reckoning is going to be amazing. I can tell you one thing: the writing is going to be incredible.”
The Social Reckoning stars Jeremy Strong, Mikey Madison, Jeremy Allen White, Wunmi Mosaku, Betty Gilpin, Billy Magnussen, and Bill Burr. Hammer will be seen next in Uwe Boll’s Citizen Vigilante.
The Social Reckoning releases in theaters on October 9, 2026.
