Netflix has acquired the rights to Chris Evans and Anya Taylor-Joy’s 2025 comedy film. Helmed by Romain Gavras (Athena, Our Day Will Come, Les Misérables), the film also features popular music artist Charlie XCX.
Who else is in Sacrifice with Chris Evans and Anya Taylor-Joy?
Netflix has grabbed the U.S. rights to Sacrifice, a satirical comedy film that had its world premiere last year in the Special Presentations section of the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival, reports Deadline. CAA Media Finance helped the streamer in securing this deal.
The film’s star-studded cast also includes Salma Hayek Pinault, Vincent Cassel, Sam Richardson, Swedish rapper Yung Lean, Ambika Mod, Jade Croot, Jeremy O. Harris, and Miriam Silverman.

The official synopsis for the film reads, “Sacrifice tells the story of Joan (Taylor-Joy), a zealous spirit driven by a volcanic prophecy only she can hear, who is on a mission to save the world from a fiery reckoning. Along with her militia of mystical disciples, she hijacks a glamorous charity gala and takes three hostages: Mike Tyler, a beleaguered movie star desperate for redemption, Bracken, the world’s richest man, and Katie, who’s just unlucky. They are forced on a journey, as hilarious as it is epic, through forest and fire until Mike faces the ultimate question: what would he sacrifice for humanity?”
Sacrifice has Robert Walak, Jacob Perlin, Gavras, Gregory Jankilevitsch, Klaudia Smieja-Rostworowska, and Giorgios Karnavas as the producers. Taylor-Joy and Evans are serving as the executive producers.
Speaking of the movie’s lead cast, Taylor-Joy was recently seen in the Apple TV+ sci-fi action movie The Gorge (2025). Her upcoming projects include an Apple TV+ series called Lucky. Then there’s Dune: Part Three, coming later this year in December. The movie will see Taylor-Joy reprising her role of Alia Atreides in the next installment of the hit franchise.
As for Evans, he was recently seen in Materialists and Honey Don’t! from last year. In 2026, the actor will be seen returning to the MCU with Avengers: Doomsday, where he will reprise his iconic role of Steve Rogers/Captain America.
