Robert Eggers‘ horror movie, Werwulf, has received an unusual entry into the franchise. Between the release of its second trailer today and the release of the movie, fans have the opportunity to play an alternate reality game with a secret reward at the end.

The game can be accessed on DevourethAllMankynde.com. It is going to go live on each full moon between September and November. Fans will have only 24 hours to look for a hidden sign on various digital platforms. Fans have to secure the hidden signs and decipher them in order to fulfill the moon.

They will have just 24 hours to look for the sign. Those who succeed will win a “mysterious prize” at the end of the three full moon, if all three moons are completed.

What is Robert Eggers’ Werwulf movie about?

Werwulf is Eggers’ upcoming period gothic folk horror film starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the lead role. Returning are actors who have often collaborated with Eggers, such as Willem Dafoe and Lily Rose-Depp. The story is set in England, around the 14th Century. It follows a town that is haunted by a beast, threatening one man and his family specifically. The movie is set to feature dialogue in Middle English.

Apart from Taylor-Johnson, Dafoe, and Rose-Depp, the movie also stars Ralph Ineson, Jack Morris, Bodhi Rae Breathnach, Hector Byker, Vidal Arzoni, Jan Bijvoet, Ritchi Edwards, Valeriia Karaman, Hannah Harpin, and Kate Dickie in key roles. Taylor-Johnson essays the role of the lead, accursed beast. Willem Dafoe will play the role of ‘the hunter’. Lily-Rose Depp will essay the role of the cursed farmer’s wife.

The movie is set to release in the United States on December 25, through Focus Features. It will release on January 1, 2027, in the United Kingdom, through Universal Pictures.
