Altered is proving there’s a life after a box office disaster. Tom Felton‘s latest sci-fi movie is now thriving in its second life on streaming. Starring alongside Liza Bugulova, Richard Brake, Igor Jijikine, Aggy K. Adams, Sergey Tsyrulnikov, and Aleksey Filimonov, the Draco Malfoy actor gave a remarkable-enough performance for the film to surge up the streaming charts.

Released in 2025, the movie centers on Leon (played by Felton), an inventor who creates a technologically advanced exoskeleton suit to defend himself and other oppressed individuals and fight back against an elite class that uses genetic enhancements to build power.

Speaking to ComingSoon.net previously, the Harry Potter actor even shared what attracted him to the project, admitting, “I always loved the human element of that.”

“But then put that with a really great story about this young whiz kid who really has not had much go right in his life. For him to have this opportunity to step out of that and actually do something for the world, greater than just for himself. It’s a classic old story, really, but just told in a completely new way. So as soon as I grasped that and understood that, it was pretty easy for me to say yes,” he added.

Where Altered stands among HBO Max’s most-watched movies

Despite failing to rank among 2025’s blockbusters, Altered currently ranks among HBO’s most-watched movies, thanks to its streaming success. As reported by ScreenRant, Felton’s movie currently stands at No. 8 on HBO Max’s global Top 10 chart.

It’s right behind Supergirl, Practical Magic, Violent Night, Resident Evil: Apocalypse, Band of Brothers: Legacy, The 5th Wave, and 3:10 to Yuma, with Sniper: No Nation and Clown in a Cornfield rounding out the rest of the Top 10.

Additionally, the movie is No. 1 in the Czech Republic, Moldova, Romania, and Slovakia, as of September 18. It’s also charting in Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Poland, Serbia, and Slovenia.

The film was made on a reported $15 million budget, but the thriller only earned $346,774 at the box office (per Box Office Mojo).

Altered isn’t available to stream on HBO Max in the United States, but audiences can stream it on Prime Video, The Roku Channel, Plex, Fawesome, and YouTube.
