Ming-Na Wen, who famously played Fennec Shand in Star Wars: The Mandalorian, has taken on a new role. The acclaimed actress will soon appear in Season 3 of Disney+ TV show Percy Jackson.
The Mulan star recently shared a brief clip on X, where she can be seen in the kitchen. She asked her fans a fun question in the post. “Big A– Wok is hot and oiled up! What would Fennec want me to cook in it? You tell me!”
While stirring the wok on a gas stove, the Saturn Award winner wondered what her on-screen fictional character would make for a signature dish.
Ming-Na Wen’s Fennec Shand has a life beyond the battlefield
While she’s best known for her illustrious acting career, Ming-Na Wen is also deeply connected to her culinary roots. In fact, she wrote a cookbook titled Have You Eaten Yet?: Family Recipes from a Restaurant Daughter. It was published on October 6, 2026.
In an interview with Forbes, the 62-year-old said her autobiographical cookbook is “the ultimate love letter to food and family.” Describing the book’s origin, she said, “It started off as a social media thing, where I’d be posting my food.” Sharing her passion for cooking, she continued, “The love of cooking and sharing meals with friends and family became a big love of mine because I grew up as a foodie with my parents. In a way, this book became a retrospect.”
Wen also revealed that she came up with the idea of writing a book “eight years ago” because her “fans wanted the recipes. I was like, ‘Oh…I don’t have recipes.’ So, a few years later—because I was still posting my food and they were still requesting recipes—I talked to my manager about it.” He eventually suggested she write a cookbook. It took five years for it to “come to fruition.”
Ming-Na Wen will next appear as goddess Hera in Percy Jackson’s Season 3. It premieres on November 20, 2026 on Disney+.
