Sophie Thatcher and Joe Alwyn have been tapped to join the upcoming thriller from Bring Them Down director Christopher Andrews. Production is scheduled to commence in Poland this September.
What else is known about Sophie Thatcher and Joe Alwyn’s witch movie?
In addition to Thatcher and Alwyn, Erin Kellyman has been recruited to join the planned thriller feature, which will be called Cavendish. The movie will see Thatcher as a young bride accused of witchcraft, with Alwyn — a witch hunter — pursuing her. The film’s synopsis (via Deadline) reads:
“1645: Accused of witchcraft on her wedding day, a privileged young bride (Thatcher) is pursued by a ruthless witch hunter (Alwyn). Forced into an uneasy alliance with a sharp-witted poacher living on the margins of society (Kellyman), the two women fight back, turning their powerlessness into strength through violence, wit, and defiance.”
Cavendish won’t be Thatcher’s first thriller project, having previously starred in critically acclaimed thriller movies like 2025’s Companion and 2024’s Heretic. She is also known for starring in Prospect, The Boogeyman, and MaXXXine, as well as in television shows like When the Streetlights Go On and Yellowjackets.
The actress can next be seen in the upcoming thriller movie, titled Her Private Hell, set for release this year. She’ll star alongside Charles Melton, Havana Rose Liu, and Diego Calva.
Alwyn starred in The Favourite, Boy Erased, Mary Queen of Scots, The Last Letter from Your Lover, Stars at Noon, Kinds of Kindness, Hamnet, and more. Meanwhile, Kellyman is known for Solo: A Star Wars Story, The Green Knight, Blitz, Eleanor the Great, and 28 Years Later and its sequel, 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple.
Andrews’ feature directorial debut, Bring Them Down, received a favorable critical reception, with a current 89% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes. The 2025 movie starred Christopher Abbott and Barry Keoghan.
Other details about Cavendish have yet to be announced.
