What happens in the You’re Killing Me trailer?
The video introduces Shields as Allie, a bestselling author whose close friend was murdered. To find the killer, she teams up with a true crime podcaster who wants to co-write a book about the case with Shields’ character. The trailer highlights the bond they’ll form during the investigation while also teasing the budding romance between Allie and a detective.
You’re Killing Me is created and executive-produced by Robin Bernheim, who previously worked with Shields on the Netflix movie Mother of the Bride. The show also stars Amalia Williamson as Andrea, Tom Cavanagh as Jack, Laura Kohoot as Connie, Gabriel Burrafato as Norman, and Kate Drummond as Jessica. This marks Shields’ first major TV project as the lead since starring in the hit NBC sitcom Suddenly Susan and the short-lived dramedy series Lipstick Jungle.
In addition to leading the cast, Shields is also serving as an executive producer with director James Genn, Michael Volpe for Topsail, and Christina Jennings and Scott Garvie for Shaftesbury. Scott Smith and Paul Fox also directed multiple episodes of the show.
