Following the critical success of Disney+’s Wonder Man series, Emmy winner Yahya Abdul-Mateen II can now be seen starring in Netflix‘s newest action-thriller show. Beginning today, all seven episodes of the Man on Fire series are finally available to stream on Netflix.
What do we know about Netflix’s Man on Fire show?
Netflix’s Man on Fire series was based on A.J. Quinnell’s 1980 book series of the same name, which was first adapted into the 2004 movie starring Academy Award winner Denzel Washington and a then-young Dakota Fanning. In the TV adaptation, Abdul-Mateen stars as a former Special Forces mercenary who’s struggling to start a new life due to his PTSD. The cast also includes Billie Boullet, Bobby Cannavale, Alice Braga, Scoot McNairy, and Paul Ben-Victor.
“It tells the story of John Creasy. Once a high-functioning and skilled Special Forces Mercenary, known for surviving even the most desolate of situations, Creasy is now plagued with intense PTSD,” reads the official synopsis. “Determined to overcome his personal demons, he sets out on a path to redemption. But, before he can adjust to this new life, he finds himself back in the fire, fighting harder than ever.”
The 7-episode show was written and executive-produced by showrunner Kyle Killen. In addition to leading the cast, the Marvel star also served as an executive producer alongside director Steven Caple Jr., Ed McDonnell, Michael Polaire, Stacy Perskie, Arnon Milchan, Yariv Milchan, Natalie Lehmann, Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, Tracey Cook, Kyle Killen, and Scott Pennington. It hails from RedRum, New Regency Productions, Chapter Eleven, and Chernin Entertainment.
