Inde Navarrette may have delivered one of the year’s most unsettling horror performances in Obsession. But even the actor has trouble watching some of the film’s most disturbing moments.

During a conversation with Allure, Navarrette pointed at one particular sequence as the scariest part of Curry Barker’s supernatural horror movie.

“This is the scariest part of the film. I refuse to watch this scene, so I was looking at the corner … I was like, ‘I know what we’re talking about,’” Navarrette said while watching the sequence.

The scene takes place when Bear, played by Michael Johnston, wakes up to find Nikki standing over him in the middle of the night. She slowly retreats into the dark corners of the bedroom, crying and questioning whether Bear loves her. Her behavior becomes increasingly unnatural as the supernatural wish that forced her to love him takes its toll.

What has Inde Navarrette been cast in since Obsession’s release?

Navarrette’s performance in Obsession has helped turn her into one of the year’s most talked-about rising actors. The horror film follows Bear, who makes a supernatural wish for his childhood friend Nikki to love him. The wish comes true, but Nikki loses her ability to choose how she feels, turning Bear’s desire into a disturbing nightmare.

The actor has several major projects ahead, including Marvel Studios’ upcoming X-Men reboot. Navarrette has been cast as Rogue, one of the franchise’s best-known mutants. Directed by Jake Schreier, the film is scheduled to arrive in theaters on May 5, 2028.

She is also set to lead Apple TV+’s upcoming movie The Waffle House Index. Navarrette plays a waitress whose overnight shift takes an increasingly bizarre and dangerous turn. The project does not yet have a confirmed release date.

Another potential opportunity is the upcoming Call of Duty movie. Taylor Sheridan is writing the screenplay with director Peter Berg, and Navarrette has openly expressed interest in joining the adaptation.

Navarrette has also joined the cast of Vertigo, a thriller about teenagers trapped hundreds of feet in the air after a roller coaster system fails. Her current projects span horror, superhero films, and action.
