Bill Skarsgård is interested in making a new Constantine project, and it is not the Keanu Reeves movie that fans were promised. The actor voiced his thoughts after DCU recently confirmed a new John Constantine movie, penned by Francis Galluppi.
Appearing on the Happy Sad Confused Podcast, Bill Skarsgård was asked about the various rumors that he was linked to for Marvel and DC projects. The actor was rumored to have been in the running for Lex Luthor and Professor X. While host Josh Horowitz pitched some heroes that he could play, Skarsgård wants to collaborate with It director Andy Muschietti on a Constantine project.
He said, “I thought that Constantine was cool. I had an idea, that, like, me and Andy Muschietti should do a Constantine [project].” He further elaborated, “I just thought that it was, like, blending truly visual horror with superheroes.” Skarsgård plans might not materialize, as Muschietti is expected to direct Batman: The Brave and the Bold for DC Studios.
What was the new Constantine movie announcement?
Deadline reported that Francis Galluppi has been tapped to develop a John Constantine project. The project is seemingly in very early stages, with no other talent attached to it. DC Studios has not yet confirmed that such a project is in development. James Gunn has made it clear that even if a project is announced, it doesn’t mean that it will see the light of day.
However, the recent news of the R-rated DCU villain film Clayface could suggest that DC will be looking to invest in darker, supernatural projects that can be made on smaller budgets and released away from the summer blockbuster season.
No other details about the movie have been revealed yet.
