Neon has finally revealed the release date for Her Private Hell, the upcoming thriller movie starring Golden Globe nominee Charles Melton and Yellowjackets star Sophie Thatcher. This marks the feature-length directorial comeback of Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn after 2016’s The Neon Demon.
When is the release date for Her Private Hell?
Per Deadline, Her Private Hell is now scheduled to arrive in theaters on July 24, 2026. Before its theatrical release, it will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival later this month. Besides Melton and Thatcher, the movie also stars Havana Rose Liu, Kristine Froseth, Dougray Scott, Diego Calva, Shioli Kutsuna, Aoi Yamada, and Hidetoshi Nishijima.
“The movie has myriad storylines, but it fires up in a futuristic metropolis where actresses are gathering at a posh hotel where they’re set to make a Barbarella-like movie. A heinous killer known as Leather Man is going around the city taking the lives of women,” reads the film’s initial description, according to the outlet.
Her Private Hell is directed and produced by Refn, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Esti Giordani. It is executive-produced by Lene Børglum, Christina Erritzøe, Takuma Takasaki, and Kimberly Willming. The creative team consists of composer Pino Donaggio, production designer Gitte Malling, art director Thomas Karlsen, and more.
During Refn’s ten-year hiatus from directing movies, the acclaimed filmmaker shifted his focus toward television. He directed two limited dramas, including Prime Video’s 2019 crime drama Too Old to Die Young starring Miles Teller, and Netflix’s 2023 Danish noir thriller Copenhagen Cowboy starring Angela Bundalovic. Refn also created and executive-produced the 2023 BBC series The Famous Five, based on Enid Blyton’s adventure novels of the same name.
