A beloved science-fiction franchise is officially arriving on Paramount+ next week, bringing a series of television shows and movies to the platform.

What sci-fi universe is moving to Paramount+?

The Battlestar Galactica series is set to arrive on Paramount+ and Pluto TV beginning on May 1, 2026. The additions will see the 2003 miniseries, Seasons 1-4 of the television series, and the television film Battlestar Galactica: The Plan are all set to join the streaming platform.

Caprica, the prequel series that premiered in 2010, is also joining Paramount+, bringing the entirety of the franchise to the platform for fans to check it out.

The Battlestar Galactica franchise originally began in 1978, and was created by Glen A. Larson. The series had two series air in 1978 and 1980, but really gained steam in the 2000s. In 2003, a rebooted, re-imagined series released, and was followed by a proper television show that became a massive hit on the Sci Fi network.

Battlestar Galactica follows the story of a human civilization that has extended out to a group of planets known as the Twelve Colonies. The series follows the war humans have been waging against Cylons, a cybernetic race whose goal is to exterminate the human species. The 2000s series, which became the most popular of the series, was developed by Ronald D. Moore, and featured a massive cast.

The 2000s series starred Edward James Olmos, Mary McDonnell, Katee Sackhoff, Jamie Bamber, James Callis, Tricia Helfer, Grace Park, and more. The show is often praised as one of the greatest sci-fi shows ever, and with many outlets also placing it on lists of some of the greatest television series of all time.
