Two legendary Fallout titles are getting the remaster treatment
In a studio letter sent out by Bethesda, the company confirmed a litany of projects coming in the next few years. Among them were two big surprises in the form of a Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas remaster. The company confirmed it was developing remasters of two of the most legendary Fallout entries in the franchise. While we heard rumors of these games being in the works for some time now, Bethesda has made it official.
No release date or even release windows have been confirmed for the titles, so it’s unclear whether or not they’ll land on the PS5 or perhaps a future console. However, fans were obviously excited about the news.
Originally released in 2008, Fallout 3 was the third entry in the series and the first developed by Bethesda after they acquired the rights to the franchise from Interplay Entertainment. The title is set in the Washington metropolitan area 200 years after a nuclear war, and introduces a number of new concepts to the franchise. The game absolutely launched the Fallout franchise to new heights. It introduced a freely explorable open world to the franchise, and earned critical acclaim, and is largely considered one of the greatest video games ever made.
Fallout: New Vegas was released in 2010, and is a spin-off to Fallout 3. The game centers on the town of New Vegas and the outlying area of the Mojave Desert, and is developed by Obsidian Entertainment. Much like Fallout 3, the game was a smash hit and sold over 11 million copies worldwide. Despite not being made by Bethesda, New Vegas is considered one of the greatest Fallout entries in the franchise, and also considered one of the greatest games ever made.
