Netflix will be removing the 2018 comedy Peter Rabbit, featuring the voices of Margot Robbie and James Corden, from its platform very soon. The film is an adaptation of a classic children’s book and pits a rabbit against his new human neighbor in a hilarious battle.

Peter Rabbit is leaving Netflix this month

Peter Rabbit will not be available to stream on Netflix beginning Saturday, May 16, 2026.

The film is based on Beatrix Potter’s iconic children’s book, The Tale of Peter Rabbit. The film blends live-action and CGI, with the animals primarily created using CGI. Will Gluck (Easy A, Friends with Benefits, and Anyone But You) directed the film and also co-wrote it with Rob Lieber.

Peter Rabbit centers on the titular character, who lives in Britain’s Lake District with his sisters and other animal friends. He also has a long-running feud with the nearby estate’s grumpy farmer, Mr. McGregor. But after he suddenly dies, his nephew Thomas takes over the manor. Determined to get rid of the animals, Thomas blocks all the paths that they could use to enter his estate. Their conflict escalates when Bea, Peter’s kind-hearted human friend, falls in love with Thomas.

The film’s live-action cast features Rose Byrne as Bea and Domhnall Gleeson as Thomas. Meanwhile, the movie’s voice cast includes James Corden as Peter Rabbit, Margot Robbie as Flopsy, Elizabeth Debicki as Mopsy, Daisy Ridley as Cottontail, and Sia as Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle, among others.

The film was released in the United States on February 9, 2018. It received decent reviews from both critics and moviegoers. While the critics rated it 64%, the audience handed it a lower 56% on Rotten Tomatoes. On Metacritic, however, the rating situation is slightly different. The users’ average score sits at 6.4, while the critics’ score is at 51.

Likely owing to the legacy the book carries, the film ended its theatrical run with a global haul of $351.5 million, against a $50 million budget. Furthermore, a sequel, Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway, followed in May 2021, though it was less commercially successful.
