This afternoon he was released on bail after a night behind bars on two counts of common assault.
The court heard the incident was captured on CCTV.
Nine News understands a parent reported the alleged assaults.
Montessori Academy said: "Immediate action was taken, including standing down the educator and reporting the matter to the police and regulatory authority. We have since terminated the educator's employment."
The judge said Shahi faced very serious allegations and the primary bail concern was the safety of the victims.
The 24-year-old was banned from entering any childcare centre.
The Nepalese national, who was hoping to get permanent residency, was also forced to surrender his passport.
