The duo reunites for the first time since the fan-favorite "Gassed Up" with a track that had already been tearing up festival sets for weeks.
Subtronics and Flowdan have reunited for a new single, "Hunter," marking the duo's first collaboration since 2022's fan-favorite "Gassed Up."
Out today via Subtronics' Cyclops Recordings imprint, the track is built around his intricate sound design and powered by the unmistakable delivery of Flowdan, who in 2023 was named by EDM.com among the year's best electronic music artists. While many newer fans know him through tracks like "Baddadan" and "Rumble," he’s long been a defining voice in electronic music.
Fans got an early taste of "Hunter" during Subtronics’ annual Miami Music Week takeover, the annual "Deadbeats vs. Cyclops" showcase. He then dropped the track at both sold-out nights of "Cyclops Rocks" at Colorado's Red Rocks Amphitheatre in April, when Flowdan appeared in-person to deliver his verses live.
Instead of relying on dramatic builds, "Hunter" carves out its impact with minimalism and contrast. Subtronics produces filtered sweeps, granular distortion and heavy-hitting bass while allowing Flowdan’s voice to remain the central anchor. He adapts to the evolving beat with finesse, his cadence staying locked without ever overpowering it.
The new single is separate from Subtronics’ latest project, Fibonacci Part 1: Oblivion, which arrived earlier this year as the first half of a two-part EP that will eventually form a full-length album.
