Disney’s Zootopia 2, which set several box office records in the last two weekends of its theatrical run, has once again set a new record, reaching $915.8 million worldwide. The animated film has also strongly performed in China, becoming the second-highest-performing film at the box office behind Avengers: Endgame. Consequently, Zootopia 2 is expected to soon surpass the $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office.
Zootopia 2 enhances Disney’s 2025 box office numbers
Zootopia 2 has earned a worldwide box office total of $915.8 million. This includes the domestic total of $220.5 million and the international total of $695.3 million. The film is now expected to cross the $1 billion mark this week.
As per Deadline, the animated sequel has also become the second-highest-grossing movie behind Avengers: Endgame in China, where it has earned $430.4 million. Further, the film has reportedly earned a total of $27.3 million in France, $25.6 million in Korea, $18.6 million in Mexico, and $16.2 million in Germany.
Meanwhile, on IMAX, Zootopia 2 has reportedly earned a total of $49.2 million. Thanks to the numbers generated during the weekend, the film has also become the third-highest-grossing release in Hollywood and the highest-grossing release internationally.
In addition, Disney’s latest offering has become China and Vietnam’s biggest releases. It has even exceeded the cumulative total numbers of China, Korea, Mexico, Brazil, and other international markets like Turkey and the UAE.
Moreover, Zootopia 2 has helped Disney make it across the $5 billion mark at the global box office. This has not only made it the first and only studio to achieve the $5 billion mark in 2025 but also the first to achieve it in back-to-back years. Last year, Disney reportedly crossed the $5 billion threshold for hits like Moana 2, Inside Out 2, and Deadpool & Wolverine.
Zootopia 2 also dominated the box office during Thanksgiving, raking in $156 million during the five-day Thanksgiving holiday period. Meanwhile, it earned $96.8 million during the three-day weekend period.
Zootopia 2 is currently playing in theaters. Jared Bush and Byron Howard directed the film from a screenplay by the former. The voice cast includes Ginnifer Goodwin, Jason Bateman, Ke Huy Quan, Idris Elba, Shakira, and Patrick Warburton.
