Zombies 5 has officially been greenlit at Disney+ and Disney Channel. Two franchise stars won’t be returning for the fifth installment — but there’s a catch.
The movie begins production in New Zealand this spring, with the official title set to be announced at a later date.
What stars won’t be a part of the Zombies 5 cast?
The Zombies franchise is set to return for another installment, this time without Milo Manheim and Meg Donnelly as Zed and Addison, respectively. Instead, the upcoming installment will be led by Malachi Barton and Freya Skye, who are returning to their breakout Dawn of the Vampires roles as Victor and Nova.
Both Manheim and Donnelly have been a part of the musical franchise since its very first outing in 2018. Even though they won’t be returning as stars for Zombies 5, they are still on board behind the scenes as executive producers.
In addition to Barton and Skye, other returning cast members include Trevor Tordjman as Bucky, Swayam Bhatia as Vera, Julian Lerner as Ray, and Mekonnen Knife as Vargas. They will be joined by new faces, including Diaana Babnicova as cool-girl Pearl, Taylor Oliver as bad-boy Fin, and Olive Mortimer as tech-wiz Sandy, who make up the trio of mermaids. Emily Costtrici also joins the cast as Zed’s zombie cousin and new transfer student, Izzy.
Disney+ and Disney Channel have also unveiled the new logos for Zombies 5. Check them out below.
“Following the events of ‘ZOMBIES 4: Dawn of the Vampires,’ the newfound peace between the Daywalkers and Vampires is put to the test when a band of fierce mermaids arrives in Rayburn, making waves and casting a persuasive siren song to lure in new allies,” the synopsis reads. “Nova and Victor must unite their groups once more to discover what the mermaids are really after in order to protect the fragile harmony they worked so hard to build.”
