Viewers are curious to know the reason behind the absence of Rip and Beth from the Yellowstone spin-off, Marshals. Created by Spencer Hudnut, the neo-western series centers on Kayce Dutton, a former U.S. Navy SEAL and rancher who, away from the Yellowstone ranch, begins a new chapter in his life. He joins an elite unit of U.S. Marshals to safeguard Montana and bring justice to the state. With the first episode having dropped recently, many are wondering about the whereabouts of Kayce’s sister and brother-in-law.
Where are Rip and Beth in Marshals after Yellowstone?
Rip and Beth purchased a smaller ranch in Dillon, Montana, and relocated there. Although they remain in the same region as Kayce, Dillon is about 40 miles from the Bozeman area, keeping them close yet on some distance.
Yellowstone witnessed the deaths of multiple characters, including the most significant, John Dutton, played by Kevin Costner, which impacted the family massively. Towards the end of the series, only two Costner children remained, Beth and Kayce, each having gotten their satisfactory ending. While Kayce returned as the main lead to start a fresh chapter, the details on Beth’s whereabouts weren’t really touched upon in the latest installment. However, it’s known that Beth and her husband, Rip, could be closer to Kayce, setting up future crossovers.
As viewers know, when the Yellowstone ranch was sold, Kayce, Monica, and Tate decided to keep the East Camp to themselves as a part of the deal. As the main house was supposed to face demolition, Rip and Beth purchased a new ranch in Dillon and moved there. While the latest spin-off didn’t share any details on their whereabouts, the duo and their adopted son, Carter, will be given more spotlight in the upcoming series, Dutton Ranch.
At this point, the makers appear to be focused on establishing Kayce’s new life as a U.S. Marshal, tasked with tackling crime and protecting Montana. Therefore, there seems to be little need to incorporate Beth and Rip’s storyline into what is building up to be a narrative centered on Kayce’s adventures. While a cameo could happen if the creators choose to include one, the siblings could also reunite in a potential future crossover.
