Many fans are wondering which character will die in Stranger Things Season 5. At the time of writing, the first four episodes of the show’s finale season have aired, with the remainder of the season to be released in separate batches on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. It’s expected that at least a few of the adults and teenagers (and possibly some of the kids too) will likely perish in the fight against Vecna. Who will be willing to sacrifice themselves to make sure that this villain doesn’t destroy Hawkins and the rest of the world? Here are the death odds for each character for Stranger Things 5. (We’ll keep this article spoiler-free for Season 5.)

The following are the chances that a character (more specifically, a protagonist) will die in Stranger Things 5 according to Polymarket odds on December 8, 2025.

The rules for this particular event on the site state that a “death” only counts if a character appears dead on screen, if it’s clearly stated by other characters, or if it’s shown in some way (like a funeral). They also count a “death” even if it “is reversed through a revival, resurrection, or reanimation,” which likely refers to Max Mayfield technically being dead long enough in Season 4 to count toward Vecna’s gate opening in the real world.
