An underrated action thriller movie starring Jamie Foxx is making its way to Peacock very soon. The Kingdom, helmed by Peter Berg from a screenplay penned by Matthew Michael Carnahan, is one of the films dropping on the streaming service next month. The film premiered at the Edinburgh International Film Festival on August 22, 2007, and hit theaters a month later on September 28, 2007.
The Kingdom begins streaming on Peacock very soon
The Kingdom, starring Jamie Foxx, will reportedly start streaming on Peacock on January 1, 2026 (via Comicbook.com). Following its release in 2007, the film reportedly grossed $87 million worldwide against an estimated budget of $70 million (via Box Office Mojo).
Location filming took place in Abu Dhabi, UAE. However, since Universal Pictures didn’t have a Middle East-based office at the time of production, Filmworks, a Dubai-based production firm, facilitated production.
On Rotten Tomatoes, the film has a 51% rotten score on the Tomatometer and a 76% audience score on the Popcornmeter. Meanwhile, Metacritic has given the film a metascore of 56 and a user score of 6.9. The former indicates “mixed or average” reception while the latter denotes “generally favorable” reception.
The film’s story is set in Saudi Arabia and took inspiration for its story from the real-life 1996 Khobar Towers housing complex bombing, the 2004 Khobar massacre, and the 2003 Riyadh compound bombings. The fictional narrative follows FBI Special Agent Fleury (Foxx) and his team, tasked with uncovering the perpetrators behind an attack on an American oil company housing compound.
Michael Mann and Scott Stuber produced the film, and Danny Elfman composed the film’s score. Meanwhile, Mauro Fiore handled the film’s cinematography while Colby Parker Jr. and Kevin Stitt edited the film. Universal Pictures distributed the movie in theaters.
Besides Foxx, the film also stars Jennifer Garner, Chris Cooper, Jason Bateman, Ali Suliman, Jeremy Piven, Ashraf Barhom, Richard Jenkins, and Tim McGraw, among many others.
