A viral AI generated clip depicting Tom Cruise vs. Brad Pitt in a dramatic fight scene has sparked fresh debate in Hollywood. The short video has been circulated widely on social media and prompted industry people to weigh in on the rapidly advancing technology.
Tom Cruise vs. Brad Pitt AI clip draws reactions across Hollywood
A newly circulated AI generated video depicting Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt in a rooftop fight has prompted widespread reaction within the entertainment industry. The short video, which appears to portray the two actors exchanging punches on a rooftop, was not filmed with either star but generated entirely through AI software. Despite its brief runtime, the clip has triggered a significant response from Hollywood.
The video was shared by Irish filmmaker Ruairí Robinson, who received an Academy Award nomination in 2002 for a live action short. Robinson stated that the scene was produced using Seedance 2.0, a video generation platform developed by ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok. According to filmmaker, the clip was generated using a “2 line prompt.”
Industry reaction has been swift. Screenwriter Rhett Reese, whose credits include Deadpool & Wolverine and Zombieland, shared the clip on X (formerly Twitter) and expressed concern. He wrote, “I hate to say it. It’s likely over for us.”
In another post, the writer further clarified that his reaction reflected concern rather than enthusiasm. He wrote that he is deeply worried about the impact of AI on writers and other artists.
“I was blown away by the Pitt v Cruise video because it is so professional. That’s exactly why I’m scared. My glass half empty view is that Hollywood is about to be revolutionized/decimated,” Reese emphasized.
Meanwhile, actor Simu Liu publicly dismissed the quality of the fight scene. “LOL anyone who has ever watched a martial arts movie knows this is absolutely dogs—,” he wrote.
The viral moment arrives amid ongoing industry concerns over rapidly evolving AI tools and copyright protection.
