Two new clips from The Super Mario Galaxy Movie have been released. The short previews introduce fans to Brie Larson’s Rosalina and Benny Safdie’s Bowser Jr. They show Rosalina sharing a story with the Lumas and Bowser Jr. vowing to restore his family’s name. The clips arrive as excitement grows for the animated sequel following its first full trailer.
The Super Mario Galaxy movie releases two new clips
Nintendo has revealed two new clips from The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, giving fans an early look at the film’s new characters.
The first clip highlights Rosalina, voiced by Brie Larson, reading a story about Princess Peach to a group of Lumas. As she begins narrating, the Lumas interrupt her, saying, “I want to hear the story about the plumbers.” Though Rosalina reminds them they heard that story the previous night, the Lumas begin chanting “plumber,” until she finally gives in.
Another clip shows the film’s villain, Bowser Jr., as he promises to restore his family’s name. He says, “From the ashes of his father’s defeat rises a new conqueror. The Bowser name shall be feared once more.”
The clips were shown during the Nintendo Direct for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. Along with Larson and Safdie, the sequel brings back the voice cast from The Super Mario Bros. Movie, including Chris Pratt as Mario and Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach. Other returning voice cast members include Charlie Day, Jack Black, Keegan-Michael Key, and Kevin Michael Richardson.
Directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, and written by Matthew Fogel, the upcoming movie serves as a sequel to 2023’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which became the highest-grossing video game adaptation of all time.
The film is set to release in theaters on April 3, 2026. This will be followed by the film’s Japanese premiere on April 24.
