Some new art teasing Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey has been released.
The Odyssey is an upcoming fantasy film written and directed by Nolan. Based on Homer’s ancient Greek epic, the film stars Matt Damon as Odysseus.
Empire Magazine has unveiled some new artwork for The Odyssey, which can be viewed below via a tweet from FilmUpdates.
The outlet has also revealed the cover for their upcoming magazine, which also showcases some new The Odyssey artwork:
What else do we know about The Odyssey?
Per Deadline, The Odyssey “tells the story of Odysseus, King of Ithaca, and his perilous journey home after the Trojan War, exploring themes of heroism, loyalty, cunning, and the struggle against divine will. The tale includes iconic episodes like his encounters with the Cyclops Polyphemus, the Sirens, and the witch-goddess Circe, culminating in his reunion with his wife, Penelope.”
In addition to Damon, the all-star cast of The Odyssey includes Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Charlize Theron, Benny Safdie, Elliot Page, John Leguizamo, Himesh Patel, Bill Irwin, Jon Bernthal, Mia Goth, Corey Hawkins, and more.
The Odyssey will be released in United States theaters on July 17, 2026, from Universal Pictures. This means that it will be released in the same month as Spider-Man 4, also known as Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which also stars Holland. That movie arrives on July 31, 2026.
This will be Nolan’s latest film since Oppenheimer, which was a huge hit at the box office. Released in July 2023, that movie grossed approximately $975.8 million globally. That movie was also a huge awards winner, as it took home Best Picture at the 96th Academy Awards, among many other accolades.
Prior to that, Nolan directed 1998’s Following, 2000’s Memento, 2002’s Insomnia, 2005’s Batman Begins, 2006’s The Prestige, 2008’s The Dark Knight, 2010’s Inception, 2012’s The Dark Knight Rises, 2014’s Interstellar, 2017’s Dunkirk, and 2020’s Tenet.
