Super Bowl LX is expected to serve as a major showcase for upcoming Hollywood releases. Several studios are reportedly preparing to unveil new trailers and promotional spots during the broadcast. The rumored lineup spans major franchise projects as well as original projects. However, as of now, there is no official confirmation.
All new trailers and spots expected to debut at Super Bowl LX
Studios are preparing a major wave of movie marketing during Super Bowl LX, even as advertising prices continue to rise. A 30-second commercial during this year’s game is expected to cost about $10 million, up from roughly $7.5 million to $8 million last year. Meanwhile, the broadcast is projected to reach more than 128 million viewers.
Paramount is expected to debut a new video during the game and is reportedly planning to promote Scream 7, which opens later this month. The studio has previously benefited from Super Bowl exposure, including a campaign for Mission Impossible Final Reckoning (via Deadline).
Disney is also likely to feature prominently, with possible spots for Pixar’s Hoppers, Lucasfilm’s The Mandalorian and Grogu, and Pixar’s Toy Story 5. However, Marvel is reportedly skipping game advertising this year despite having major releases scheduled, including Avengers Doomsday and Spider-Man Brand New Day. Similarly, Dwayne Johnson is not expected to promote his live-action Moana film during Super Bowl commercials.
Universal is expected to showcase major trailers through Illumination, with promotions planned for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie and Minions 3. Steven Spielberg’s upcoming science fiction film Disclosure Day is also likely to receive airtime ahead of its summer release.
Lionsgate is reportedly returning to the Super Bowl with a spot for its Michael Jackson biopic Michael. The studio previously advertised The Hunger Games and Gods of Egypt during past games.
Several studios are expected to sit out this year’s game. Netflix’s film division, Apple Original Films, Sony, and Warner Bros. are not believed to be buying in-game ads. They are instead planning to release trailers online in the days leading up to kickoff.
