Fans’ love for the Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer can be seen in its viewership numbers. Within days, it achieved a milestone that industry analysts once considered impossible for a movie trailer.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer makes history, crosses 1 billion views
The Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer seems to have rewritten the record books. Sony released the highly anticipated sneak peek for Tom Holland’s return as Peter Parker on March 18, and within 96 hours, it had amassed over one billion views globally. According to data from WaveMetrix, the tally now sits at 1.1 billion views, making it the biggest movie trailer launch of all time, Variety reported.
The numbers are staggering even by modern blockbuster standards. Within its first 24 hours, the trailer got 718.6 million views. It instantly claimed the title for the biggest trailer launch ever, surpassing not only previous film records but also those set by major video game releases.
For context, the previous record holder for a movie trailer was Marvel’s Deadpool and Wolverine, which generated 365 million views in 24 hours after debuting during the 2024 Super Bowl. The Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer almost doubled that figure. It also eclipsed the 24-hour record held by the Grand Theft Auto VI video game trailer, which stood at 475 million views.
Remarkably, after just eight hours online, the new trailer had already secured 373 million views worldwide. A number that alone would have been enough to claim the all-time record. However, this isn’t Sony’s first time dominating the trailer scene. The studio’s Spider-Man: No Way Home set the then record with 355.5 million views in its first 24 hours.
Now in Brand New Day, fans will see Holland again suit up as Spider-Man, but in a world that has forgotten that Peter Parker is the web-slinger. The film hits theaters on July 31 and stars Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jon Bernthal, Mark Ruffalo, and more.
