The future of Solo Leveling has recently received an exciting update from producer Atsushi Kaneko, amid discussions surrounding Season 3 and a potential movie. Season 1 debuted on Crunchyroll in January 2024 and emerged as a blockbuster in the anime scene. It was followed by Season 2, which dropped in January 2025. Currently, there is no official announcement regarding Season 3 from the studio, A-1 Pictures.
Atsushi Kaneko asks Solo Leveling fans to ‘wait just a little longer’ for official update
Solo Leveling producer Atsushi Kaneko recently gave an update about the anime amid the chatter around its much-awaited Season 3.
In a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), Kaneko posted an image to wish his followers a Happy New Year, in which he also hinted at something exciting coming up for Solo Leveling fans. He wrote, “A HAPPY NEW YEAR 2026. I received this rubber band at the end of last year! It’s engraved with ‘Art is not a crime’! I’ll make this phrase, which applies to all art, my slogan for 2026, and do my best! And this year… something truly exciting might happen for ‘SL fans’!! I’m sorry, but please, please wait just a little longer…!!!”
The update follows reports circulating online about a Solo Leveling movie that is rumored to drop in 2026.
According to a report by Collider, the decision to make a movie is seemingly being made because of the massive success of movies like Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc and Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle. Thus, this movie could focus on the arcs that were covered in Seasons 1 and 2.
As mentioned on Crunchyroll’s website, Solo Leveling “follows Sung Jinwoo, the world’s weakest hunter, who was chosen by the mysterious ‘system’ after barely surviving a deadly dungeon raid. The system allows him to level up beyond human limits, turning him from prey to predator as he uncovers the dark truth behind the monster-infested dungeons.”
