Snoop Dogg has officially signed on to star in director Eli Roth‘s next horror movie. When the project was first revealed last September, the award-winning rapper was initially only attached as a producer. However, Roth has now also finally confirmed Snoop Dogg’s casting. This marks the creative duo’s latest collaboration, after Roth directed the rapper’s music video for the song “La La La” in 2012.
What do we know about Snoop Dogg & Eli Roth’s horror movie?
Per Variety, Snoop and Eli Roth’s horror movie will officially be titled Don’t Go in That House, Bitch!, which will begin its production this coming June. The iconic rapper is no stranger to the horror genre, after previously starring in 2001’s Bones, 2006’s Hood of Horror, 2013’s Scary Movie 5, and 2022’s Day Shift. Roth also confirmed he had finished writing the movie’s script during the holidays, describing it as the “ultimate haunted house movie.”
“He’s been wanting to do Death Row Films for a long time,” Roth revealed. “I said we need to make the ultimate haunted house movie, like the craziest one, something that mixes House, House by the Cemetery, Hausu, and Friday the 13th, like something so insane people can’t believe it exists. And we call it, Don’t Go in That House, Bitch! And he’s, and he’s going to star in it.”
He continued, “People keep going in the house. People don’t listen. ‘What are you doing, bitch? Don’t go in that house.’ People just keep going in. ‘Like, what are you doing? You’re not going to come out of there. Don’t do it. Turn around. Leave!’ It’s basically everything that we yell at the screen during horror movies. You put those as characters in the movie like a Greek chorus.”
In addition, the horror filmmaker shared that they are currently working on the project’s budget and location. The project will be produced by Roth and Snoop Dogg, with the director fully financing it.
“We’re budgeting now,” Roth said. “I’m going to apply for the California tax credit. If I get the tax credit, I want to shoot it in Los Angeles so we can have all L.A. people on it.”
